Lakeshore Infectious Disease Associates was founded at AMITA Health Saint Joseph Hospital, Chicago by Dr. Roberta Luskin in 1985. In order to meet the growing demands of the AIDS epidemic, Saint Joseph Hospital and Lakeshore Infectious Disease Associates became synonymous with compassionate and cutting edge HIV care. The practice was the sponsor of the AIDS Research Alliance of Chicago during the 1990’s and 2000’s and was involved in a variety of pivotal studies (including the SMART study) which helped bring forth the current advancements of HIV treatment. The physicians of Lakeshore Infectious Disease Associates continue to offer state-of-the-art private medical care to over one thousand HIV infected patients and proudly serve the local community.
The practice has since grown to offer comprehensive infectious diseases services including management of sexually transmitted infections, skin and soft tissue infections, complicated bone/joint infections, genitourinary tract infections, respiratory infections, Clostridiodes difficile infections (C DIFF) and viral hepatitis to name a few. The practice is heavily involved in HIV prevention and provides a number of patients with Truvada (PrEP) for Prevention.
While Lakeshore Infectious Disease Associates offers an exceptional boutique office experience, the physicians are equally committed to in-patient hospital consultation services, where we tirelessly promote evidence-based practices to insure the highest quality patient care. The ideologies of antimicrobial stewardship and infection control are at the core of our treatment plans, while we also provide invaluable guidance for hospital administration. We consult at AMITA Health Saint Joseph Hospital, and at the Kindred Hospitals of Chicago, where we provide continuity of care as patients transition from an acute medical hospital to a long term care facility. And as of 2019 we are proud to have joined the medical staff at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, further expanding our consultation service area.
The doctors of Lakeshore Infectious Disease Associates have also been influential and deeply invested in the many successful residency training programs of Saint Joseph Hospital, where we have been committed to medical education over the decades.
The practice is comprised of four like-minded Board Certified Infectious Diseases specialists. Our team also includes an office manager, a receptionist and a medical assistant who all pride themselves on their customer service and ability to provide a “personal touch” in healthcare.
